Love is......

"......Love is not jealous or boastful or proud" 1 Corinthians 13:4

These three things are characteristics each of us can easily fall into. It's easy to feel jealous of that person who is always getting the big responsibilities, easy to feel jealous of the one who's dating and her boyfriend is 'oh so amazing', easy to feel jealous of the one who seems to have everything you want, and the list goes on and on and on....!

Now, in order for us to be able to gain something from this, we have to understand in detail what these characteristics mean :

Jealousy : feeling or showing an envious resentment of someone or their achievements, possessions, or perceived advantages.

*Look at this other definition I found, something to think about!* - fiercely protective of one's rights or possessions.

Boastful : showing excessive pride and self-satisfaction in one's achievements, possessions, or abilities

Proud : having or showing the attitude of people who think that they are better or more important than others : having or showing too much pride

"But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind."
James 3:14-16

Wow. Let's get to work this week?! In order for something to become a part of our nature, we need to consistently think about it and put it into practice. The first step is to read over this verse many times, taking time to understand it, so when situations arise, the Holy Spirit can bring it into our minds and give us the strength to display this Love.

Be Blessed!
